APRIL 17, 2013 TITLE III - PROJECT JUMP START
ESL TEACHERS - FULL DAYS
GRADES K - 12
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pamela C. Brown, Ed.D. is interested in receiving applications
from qualified candidates for teaching positions at the following Schools:
ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) TEACHERS
Location: #45 International School
Full day classes to be held: July 9 – August 2, 2013 from 7:50 am to 2:30 pm
Candidates must complete an application form available on the District website, at
Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in ESL. Priority will be given to qualified
permanent/tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers, currently assigned
and teaching ESL, grades K-12, in the Buffalo Public Schools. Selection will be based on BPS
seniority start dates.
To assist newly arrived Limited English Proficient (LEP) students with pre-literacy skills, fundamental
literacy development, basic academics and school acculturation in preparation for September. The
program will provide service to LEP/ELL students who arrived in the2012-2013 school year or who are
at the beginning level of English proficiency, and who need additional support to prepare them for the
upcoming school year.
Three paid Teacher Orientation Sessions will be scheduled in June 2013. Each session will last
2 hours and will be held after school. Chosen candidates are encouraged to attend. Also, a paid
teacher preparation session is scheduled for July 5, 2013 (3 hour session). Chosen candidates
are encouraged to attend.
Please review the dates carefully. For the benefit of the students and continuity of the program,
teachers are expected to serve the full term of the program. If you cannot commit to the entire
program, you may apply to work as a replacement teacher for absent teachers.
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent
following assessment of ESL teaching experience, seniority, training, credentials and evaluation of service.
Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher rate based on BTF contract.
