                                                                              NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of: 

                          SECTION 504/ADA DISTRICT COORDINATOR/HELPING TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have NYS permanent teacher certification in Special Education, School Counseling or School Social Work and have 3-5 years of successful experience in an urban school district.  Candidates must have  extensive knowledge of the Buffalo Public Schools Student Success Plan and Federal regulations pertaining to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, 29 U.S.C. and the Americans with Disabilities Act  along with the interrelationship between OCR, IDEA, and 504.   Knowledge of the process of evaluation,  creation and implementation of 504 plans in the school setting is required.  Strong skills related to organization,  the use of technological systems, and communication with school personnel, students and parents are a must.

DUTIES:
The Section 504/ADA Coordinator will organize, monitor and maintain records for Section 504 district caseload.  The Coordinator will organize, implement, and oversee all Section 504 processes as outlined in the Federal Law for timely and exemplary implementation.  The Coordinator will manage data through Section 504 Direct, IEP Direct and Infinite Campus.  The coordinator will meet and collaborate with district staff, school based teams, families and agencies related to 504 regulations, evaluation, plan development and implementation to ensure the needs of students are being met and the BPS district maintains compliance with pertinent 504 regulations.  The Coordinator will maintain and update the Section 504 BPS Manual, provide Section 504 training and support to BPS staff as needed, and update the BPS section 504 Website. 
                              
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
           
SALARY:                   Per teacher salary based on BTF contract plus $300
