RECRUITMENT FOR POSITION
POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified
candidates for a part-time hourly position in the Adult Education Program for the 2015-2016 school year as:
ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE)/GED DAY INSTRUCTOR - PART TIME, HOURLY

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a New York State Teaching Certificate in related area.

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field (i.e. English, Reading, Math, Science, Elementary Education, etc.) from an
accredited university.
- and –
Hold an Adult Education Certificate (or must obtain; in these cases, application must be processed through the
Human Resources department of the Buffalo Board of Education). For NYS Adult Ed certification, you will be
required to take Child Abuse Reporting and SAVE workshops.
EXPERIENCE: Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with and/or
teaching adults and experience with teaching/utilizing computerized, prescriptive software system. Candidates
will also be asked to take an official practice test for the GED exam.
DUTIES: Teachers must be able to implement the instructional program following curriculum guidelines provided and
NYS Standards/Goals; evaluate students and instruction; utilize the database for student attendance and
performance notes and prescriptive software systems currently available and maintain accurate records.
Teachers must attend a minimum of 11 staff development hours by Employment Preparation Education (EPE)
guidelines and participate in the orientation course with Western New York Consortium Professional Staff
Development.
APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following
assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled
where appropriate. All Adult Education assignments are temporary, will and no later than June 30th, and must be
processed each year.
SALARY: Hourly teacher salary schedule.
