BUFFALO BOARD OF EDUCATION VACANCY
POSITION: Audit Inspector - Provisional
SALARY: $42,007 - $49,579
LOCATION: Internal Audit/Accounts Payable - 818 City Hall
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for verifying receipt of materials order, compliance with specification of orders and bids, completion of various construction, repair work and services rendered pursuant to contract.
- Works under the immediate supervision of the Chief Auditing Inspector and in accordance with established laws, rules, regulations and departmental policy.
- Inspects any and/or all materials, supplies and equipment purchased and services procured by the city as to quantity, quality and compliance with specifications before payment is effectuated by the Division of Audit;
- Inspects the completion of construction and repair work, including labor, equipment, materials and time used from a non-technical standpoint as ordered by various departments, divisions or agencies of city government;
- Makes recommendations as to payment of the respective order through data entry of inspection findings on a computerized system;
- Inputs information on computer concerning the auditing/inspection of materials, supplies, equipment and services rendered;
- Keeps informed of new products, equipment, services and procedures;
- Inspects emergency purchases and services and follows up on the preparation of related paperwork evidencing transactions;
- Maintains records and submits reports as required;
- Acts as a liaison with vendors regarding orders, inspections and payment status;
- Advises departments, divisions or agencies of required action;
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(A) Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing and Management);
OR
(B) Associates Degree from an accredited college or business institute and TWO years of full time qualifying experience*;
OR
(C) Graduation from High School, Equivalency Diploma or GED and FOUR years of full time qualifying experience*;
OR
(D) an equivalent combination as defined within the limits of A through C
*QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE
Must be full time experience in one of the following areas:
(1) auditing, inspection or purchasing of materials, equipment, supplies or services
OR
(2) as a manufacture or sales representative selling products to wholesalers or other customers for one or more manufactures.
Possession of a current NYS Drivers License and EITHER own or have access to a motor vehicle.
For the purpose of this position: AUDITING is defined as the verification of items or services procured in accordance with contract, specifications, agreements, etc. INSPECTION is defined as the actual examination of items or services procured in accordance with contract, specifications, agreements, etc.
