NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING COORDINATOR (CLRT)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid New York State Teacher Certification in one of the following areas: Reading, Elementary Education, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Special Education, Art, Music, TESOL, ESL, CTE, and Library Services, and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction, the CLRT TOSA will:
- Coordinate efforts to implement the My Brother’s Keeper initiative;
- Coordinate with CLRT committee, all aspects of the CLRT three year plan;
- Develop and facilitate professional development and training related to the implementation of the CLRT three year plan;
- Assist with, organize and facilitate staff development, book studies and project based learning opportunities;
- Assist with developing and implementing CLRT school based programs and Saturday Academies;
- Collect instructional evidence/artifacts to show integration of CLRT into the school culture;
- Develop periodic surveys of teachers and principals which demonstrate an increase in knowledge and abilities regarding CLRT;
- Develop Board recommendations for approved projects and purchases;
- Prepare and ensure timely submission of reports;
- Participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills required to fulfill responsibilities of related work;
- Coach and mentor to promote and support the use of CLRT instructional practices covered in the professional development sessions;
- Support CLRT curriculum committees to identify supplemental materials and develop pertinent curriculum resources aligned to the practices of culturally and linguistically responsive teaching;
- Work with CAI Directors , Supervisors and curriculum committees to update curriculum;
- Carry out the responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent, his designee, or the Assistant Superintendent.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interview shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher salary schedule based on BTF contract
