POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
CERTIFIED LIFEGUARD – VARIOUS LOCATIONS (Hourly Rate)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.

Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with Buffalo Public Schools Pool Plan, policies, and procedures. Completes related reports as required.

Maintains effective, positive relationships with participants and other staff.

Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.

Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.

Agree to be assigned to various locations

Attends all staff meetings and in-service training, when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Minimum age of 18.
- Must be American Red Cross certified in the following:
- Lifeguard/First Aid Training (valid for 2 years).
- CPR/AED for Lifeguards or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescue (valid for 2 years).
- Must be available for some early morning, late evening, weekend or holiday work.
- 4. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.

Meet strength and lifting requirements.

See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

Must be a good swimmer
