                                                                                      SUMMER TEACHERS: GRADES 9-12

 

 

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates Grades 9-12 for Virtual Learning Summer Teacher positions in Physical Education.

 

                                VIRTUAL LEARNING IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

                                Grades 9-12

 

                                Teacher Dates:             7/18 – 8/22/2017                     Teacher Hours: 8:15 am – 11:45 am

                                Student Dates:             7/19 – 8/15/2017                     Student Hours: 8:30 am – 11:30 am

 

                                Regents Exams to Be Held: 8/16 & 8/17/2017

                                Regents and Grade Input: 8/18, 8/21 & 8/22/2017

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must be New York State certified in Health. Candidates should be technologically proficient. Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order of summer school seniority.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Facilitate, monitor, and assess student progress in the virtual learning curriculum.

  • Set goals and deadlines to further student achievement in their virtual learning courses.

  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of the virtual learning platform.

  • Communicate with counselors and administrators on the progress of students.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide appropriate feedback and on student work including assignments and assessments.
  • Identify and utilize additional instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
  • Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing computer lab rules and procedures and enforcing classroom, school, and district rules and procedures.
  • Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.

 

 

ORIENTATION:

Paid teacher preparation session is scheduled for July 18, 2017 (3 hour session). Successful candidates are encouraged to attend.

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Please review the dates carefully. FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS AND CONTINUITY OF THE PROGRAM, TEACHERS ARE EXPECTED TO SERVE THE FULL TERM OF THE PROGRAM.


APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of summer school seniority, training, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service. Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.

SALARY: Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract.
