                                                                                                               ADULT EDUCATION – COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:               Candidates must have a valid NYS Cosmetology license, pass the practical assessment, and proven experience in the cosmetology field.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:            Under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education, the Adult Education
                                                Cosmetology Instructor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:           
 

  • Work to develop and maintain clear lines of communication and collaboration between staff, administrators, students in the cosmetology program;
  • Instruct New York State approved cosmetology curriculum to students;
  • Work effectively with all students to foster their professional growth and performance;
  • Foster a positive school climate where students are addressed in a manner that promotes student responsibility and mutual respect;
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement of professional knowledge and skills;
  • Monitor cosmetology program needs and improvement;
  • Promote safety within the Program.
  • Organize and support programs initiatives that include open houses, student recruitment efforts, and program promotions.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with the division and community.
  • Work with business side of cosmetology program to ensure proper connection between education and business sides of program;
  • Assist students with federal and state financial aid applications.
  • Other duties as required by Administration

 
APPOINTMENT:      Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews, a modeled lesson and a writing sample will be scheduled where appropriate.
