POSITION:               
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald Ogilvie, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates
for the position of:
 

                                        
                                      SECONDARY EDUCATION SUPPORT TEACHER
                                                  BURGARD HS #301

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have earned a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and have a New York State teaching certificate in a secondary core
content area (i.e. Math, Science, English, Social Studies) or Special Education, and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools.
The candidate must have a demonstrated record of effective academic and social-emotional results with behaviorally challenging youth. 
Candidates must possess a recognized interest in developing authentic and meaningful professional relationships with youth who struggle
academically and behaviorally. Candidates must possess a demonstrated record of improved results for students both academically and
socially in their current assignment. 
                                                                       
RESPONSIBILITIES:           
The Secondary Education Support teacher will create, organize, and manage a tracking system for students who, rather than be suspended
out of school and will work under the supervision of the Principal/Assistant Principal.  The Principal, as the responsible head and educational
leader of the school will assure compliance with state education law and Commissioner’s Regulations.
 
The assignment includes:

 
  • Daily communication with Parents, Administrators and other school personnel as needed.
  • Academic instruction and homework help/counseling.
  • Coordinate behavior interventions in collaboration with the school student support tea
  • Provide a safe academically-focused environment.
 
 
APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following the assessment of training,
experience, credentials, evaluation of service and interview by the building principal. This appointment will be processed as “temporarily assigned” to
the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.
