                        NOTICE OF POSITION

 
POSITION:                 
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Donald A. Ogilvie is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 
                                    SUPERVISOR OF INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

QUALIFICATIONS:   
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent New York State teaching certificate, and a School Administrator Certificate (SDA) or New York State School District Leader (SDL), or New York State School Building Leader (SBL). It is highly preferable that the candidate have coursework related to school/instructional technology.
 
EXPERIENCE:           
Candidates must have completed five years of approved and appropriate teaching in a school district similar to the Buffalo Public Schools. It is desired that the candidate’s teaching experience include instructional technology. Candidates must also have prior experience in an administrative or organizational capacity, preferably in the area of education and/or educational technology.
 
DUTIES:                     
Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Instructional Technology, essential duties and responsibilities of the Supervisor of Instructional Technology include but are not limited to:
 

 
  • Provide supervision over short and long-range projects for BPS instructional technology initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of instructional technology including but not limited to: instructional software and hardware, course specific software, library systems software, website software, interactive whiteboards, and other future hardware, software, and web tools adopted based on identified needs.
  • Supervise and work with Instructional Technology Coaches to plan, develop and implement program activities to support the National Educational Technology Standards, Common Core Learning Standards, BPS academic plans and other initiatives as necessary.
  • Analyze and report on instructional technology related programs in regards to overall effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with District department and committees (Teaching and Learning, Plant, Budget, Human Resources) and other committees as assigned.
  • Assist teachers in the use of technology applications for curricular use and provides initial and ongoing staff development opportunities through Instructional Technology Coaches.
  • Actively seek and manage grants for technology funding.
  • Attend meetings and conferences and participate in other activities to promote professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
APPOINTMENT:        
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where necessary and/or appropriate.
 
SALARY:                     Supervisor salary schedule.
