NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
1 - ELA SUPPORT TEACHER (9-12) CTE

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State teaching certificate and be employed by the Buffalo Public Schools as an ELA teacher. Preference will be given to candidates who hold contract status with the district and has experience in a building with Career & Technical Education with certified programs of study.
EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must have completed three years of approved and appropriate teaching experience as a teacher at the high school level. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and/or training working on curriculum integration across disciplines, providing professional development to adult learners, curriculum development, research based best practices for instruction, career portfolio development, CTE program certification, assessments, and have a strong understanding of the Common Core State Standards and the NYS curriculum modules used in grades 9-12.
DUTIES:
The ELA support teacher will report directly to the CTE Director and work with CTE teachers and students. Duties will include but not be limited to responsibility for assisting in the transition of CTE students to college and careers, provide integration of the academic area into all CTE areas and oversee portfolios and/or rubrics required by NYSED that are mandated for CTE integrated academic credit. Oversee the development of crosswalks for all CTE curriculums as it relates to Common Core State Standards. Provide professional development to teachers in district initiatives including but not limited to, Step Up to Writing and other duties as assigned.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher salary schedule.
FUND#: Grant funded. Appointment is for one year, pending funding Perkins (.6), P-Tech (.4)
