POSITION:           
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald A. Ogilvie is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates
for the position of:
 
 
                                  INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY COACH - School Year 2015/2016

QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must be a NYS certified teacher currently employed with contract status in the Buffalo Public Schools. Candidates
must have a minimum of three years of successful classroom and/or coaching experience in an urban school district. The candidate
must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal
communication skills with adults. 
 
EXPERIENCE:         
In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in instructional
technology, curriculum design, digital environments and creation of content for online learning. Knowledge of the New York State
Common Core Standards and Curricula, assessments, data driven instruction, ISTE-NETS and 21st Century Skills will also be considered
in evaluating each candidate’s qualifications.
 
The candidate should also:
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of instructional technology and social media.
  • Possess a deep understanding of how instructional technology applies to information literacy skills and student learning, especially in relation to the Common Core Learning Standards.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of BPS curriculum and instructional models.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of multiple pedagogical techniques for addressing the needs of various learners.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations as they relate to Instructional Technology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of multiple staff development models and approaches.
  • Be able to create units of study to foster differentiation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving.
  • Show the ability to plan, lead and facilitate staff development opportunities with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Possess working knowledge of DTSDE, NYSUT Rubric and the APPR Process.
  • Possess working knowledge of Professional Growth System (PGS), Infinite Campus and Data Dashboard and other technology-based systems used by the Buffalo Public Schools.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of various technology integration models including SAMR and TPACK.
  • Possess a strong collaborative, team-oriented and flexible approach to partnered work.
     
      
     
DUTIES:                

The Instructional Coach may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
 
  • Co-teaching to provide support and modeling of various technology integration strategies.
  • Providing coaching for staff on various pedagogical methods for using technology to support instructional goals.
  • Assisting staff in selecting the best technologies to use to meet instructional needs of students.
  • Providing feedback to individual teachers on their efforts to implement curriculum aligned to Common Core Learning Standards, RTI, data-driven instruction using a process that includes modeling, observing and one-on-one conferencing.
  • Provide professional development on all facets of District instructional technology during the school day.
  • Collaboration with District administrators, building administrators, district and building coaches in the planning for and facilitation of District and School Based meetings.
  • Assist District personnel in preparing BPS staff and students for Computer Based Testing.
  • Continuously develop and improve own capacity, and the capacity of others, to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.
  • Maintain a District web page for APPR purposes.
  • Maintain activity log to document activities as required by grant based funding sources and others.
  • Attend all District PLOs for Instructional Technology Coaches.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of
training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
