POSITION:               
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald A. Ogilvie, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 

 
                             Elementary Alternate Instruction Teachers GRADES 1-8  (Hourly Rate)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have earned a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and have a New York State teaching certificate in elementary education and or secondary core content area (i.e. Math, Science, English, Social Studies).  The candidate must have a demonstrated record of effective academic and social-emotional results with behaviorally challenging youth.  Candidates must possess a recognized interest in developing authentic and meaningful professional relationships with youth who struggle academically and behaviorally. Candidates must possess a demonstrated record of improved results for students both academically and socially in their current assignment. 
                                                                       
RESPONSIBILITIES:           
Alternate Instruction teachers will work under the supervision of the Principal/Assistant Principal.  The Principal, as the responsible head and educational leader of the school will assure compliance with state education law and Commissioner’s Regulations.  The assignment includes:

 
  • 2 hours per day up to 8 hours total per week
  • Monday - Thursday.
 
APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, evaluation of service and interview by the building principal.  Principals may select multiple candidates to establish an after-school instructional schedule.  They may also elect to conduct such a program during the school day as an integrated component of the contractual regular hours of work with existing staff allocations, forgoing the provisions of this posting.
