NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST III OF DISTRICT-WIDE PROJECTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), or a School District Leader (SDL) Certification. The candidate must have; experience in working with families to improve student achievement, successful project management experience, knowledge of community resources and available support systems for families, skill in human interaction, time management, problem solving, and conflict management, excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain required documentation and records, effective skills in oral and written communication, ability to communicate well with parents and school personnel, and ability to work independently in carrying out performance responsibilities. Candidates with prior experience in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred.


DUTIES:

The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) New Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Under the direction of the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation, the Instructional Specialist III of District-Wide Projects works on a wide variety of administrative duties, special projects, and initiatives associated with the New Education Bargain in collaboration with the Chief of Staff, Chief Academic Officer, and Associate Superintendent for Student Support Services. The Instructional Specialist III will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

 

  • Under the direction of the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation, keep informed about current trends and best practices in education, especially those that align with school district initiatives;
  • Design and conduct research projects aligned with district initiatives as relevant and as requested by the Superintendent of Schools or Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation;
  • Prepare research reports and compile results of data analysis and surveys as relevant and requested by Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation;
  • Work under the direction of the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation to coordinate the design, development, and implementation of the district data analysis and warehousing system;
  • Work with the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation in compiling and managing data and preparing reports required by law, and/or board policy;
  • Set strategy, establish metrics, drive strategic decision-making by promoting and supporting the mission and values of the Buffalo Public Schools;
  • Works under the direction of the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation to identify potential grant sources, solicit grant proposals, complete grant applications, and monitor and evaluate the implementation of grants, especially those that align with school district initiatives;
  • Serves as project manager for district wide initiatives (i.e. PEP, Wellness & Health Management program, etc.); and
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief for Strategic Alignment and Innovation.

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.

 

SALARY: Administrator’s salary schedule.
