NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald A. Ogilvie is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
Expanded Learning Time – After School Program at School #54
APPLICATION:

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a valid General Education and/or Special Education New York certificate in grades K-12 core and
be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured, probationary, temporary teacher.
Candidates must also hold a valid certification in Elementary Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language, Physical Education,
Math, English Language Arts, Music, Art, Home and Careers, Reading, or hold certification as a School Counselor. Preference will be given to
teachers applying to teach at their own grade level.
In addition, candidates must be willing to work a minimum of 2 days a week Monday –Thursday for 2 hours a day. Two-day teachers will either
work Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday. Four-day teachers will work Monday-Thursday.
Teachers will create lesson plans and utilize the curriculum provided to them, as well as supplement as needed with supervisors’ approval. Teachers
are expected to provide support & positive interaction with students, administer pre and post assessments, maintain attendance, and as needed,
communicate and provide information to parents on the progress of their child.
External staff must be able to start between 3:30 and 3:45.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of the Building Administration:
- Instructing students on grade level coursework using differentiated strategies and approaches effective in working with all students.
- Provide instruction to students’ in ELA and Math that is aligned to the CCLS. Special area teachers may apply as well to teach in their subject area and provide additional classroom support.
- Support reading, writing, inquiry, critical thinking, group, and presentation skills through the completion of tasks aligned with CCLS components.
- Prepare lessons for students.
- Outside planning time will be necessary.
- Teachers will be required to work a minimum of 2 hours a day, 2 days per week of the 4 day program (M-TH).
- Attend mandatory program training after school.
- The program will begin on November 3, 2014.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the building principals who will select the candidates that best match the recruitment bulletin and the after-school program description.
