                                        NOTICE OF POSITION

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pamela C. Brown, is interested in receiving applications
from qualified candidates for the positions of:
                    Virtual Advanced Placement (VAP) Program Coordinator
Candidates must complete an application form available on the District website,
Candidates must hold a New York State teacher or school counselor certification. 
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 
They must be able to work cooperatively with individuals and groups in problem solving,
develop a strong collegial and collaborative relationship with other teachers, school
administrators, partners, and central office staff.  He/she must have a strong sense
of responsibility for the academic and developmental welfare of students, and be able
and willing to create an environment that stimulates learning and the personal
development of children. A successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of
secondary education, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, technology, tutoring, and
curriculum and instruction. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership skills and
teaching experience at the high school level. Experience with Advanced Placement
and grant implementation is a plus.   
The VAP Program Coordinator will act as a pedagogical leader and has a central function in
the organization of the program. The coordinator maintains continual contact with the VAP
Grant Manager, school administration, AP subject area teachers, students, parents, and
the Department of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction. Additional duties include,
but are not limited to:
  • Compliance with the requirements and timelines stipulated in the VAP Program narrative.
  • Coordinating, planning, and attending program events (parent/family night, weekend college engagements, summer programs, etc.)
  • Supervision of teacher assistants
  • Facilitation of committee meetings
  • Monitoring of program goals
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly progress reports
  • Budget management (timely and efficient use of funds as set forth in the VAP Program grant) and willingness and ability to work closely with the grant budget analyst
  • Ensuring that all requisitions are properly filed and monitored through the finance process
  • Providing support to instructional leaders and school counselors
  • Assisting in setting up systems for communication and cooperation of the entire professional staff in program implementation
  • Preparing contracts, board recommendations, and other documentation required to implement the program
  • Assisting teachers in implementing the strategies and skills required to implement the VAP Program
  • Performing other duties and assuming other responsibilities as may be assigned or arise due to the nature of the position
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the
Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of
service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
