POSITION:                         Food Service Helper 
STARTING SALARY:          $11.13/hour 
LOCATION:                         TBD

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Employees assigned to schools with working kitchens assist in the preparation and serving of food;

- assists in the use of kitchen equipment used in the preparation of food;

Cleans all aspects of dining room, kitchen, serving area, etc.;

- cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes, pots, pans, tableware, etc.;

Maintains and cleans food storage areas;

Mops and cleans floors in rest rooms;

May serve as a cashier and checker;

Performs related duties as required.

 

Employees assigned to schools without working kitchens may be assigned as a Pre-Pack Leader, exercising limited supervision over Food Service Helpers assigned to these schools;

-       oversees the performance of duties in carrying out the distribution of pre-pack meals;

-       on a daily basis, maintains simple records of Food Service Helpers’ assignments, by checking in assigned employees for that school;

Performs related duties as required.

 

Employees assigned to schools without a working kitchen that participate in a pre-packaged meal program will be required to perform the following duties, at a lower rate of pay, with work hours varying according to the school’s needs:

Upon arrival, reports to Pre-Pack Leader for assignment of duties;

Distributes meals and assists students with meals;

Maintains a list of names of students that are receiving meals;

Cleans dining areas, including washing tables, etc.

Assists food service personnel with food handling, including proper storage of food;

Performs related duties as required.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(A)   Applicants must have experience in domestic work, preferably but not limited to: preparation and serving of food, maintenance of kitchens, serving areas and food storage areas, etc.;

OR

(B)   An equivalent combination of training and experience that indicates ability to perform required duties under the typical work activities listed above.
