NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Donald A. Ogilvie., is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
SUPERVISOR OF ATTENDANCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, a permanent teaching certificate in a pupil personnel services area (Attendance, Guidance Counselor, School Psychologist, School Social Worker) , and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL) certificate. Strong writing, communication and computer skills, in English, are necessary. Fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must have three years of approved and appropriate experience in a pupil personnel services tenure area.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Chief of Student Support Services, the Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Supervisory Work
- Select, assign, supervise, and evaluate: Attendance teachers, Community Education Leaders assigned to Buffalo City Court, Erie County Family Court, and High School Equivalency program, Research Aide for Attendance Services, Records Inventory Coordinator, and clerical staff.
McKinney Vento Program
- Serve as District liaison to the McKinney Vento program.
- Write and manage the McKinney Vento sub-grant.
- Work with the Central Registration Center staff and school support staff to appropriately monitor the identification and follow-up of McKinney Vento eligible students.
District Records Management Officer
- Maintain regular communication with school administrators and clerical staff regarding proper use of student records and their appropriate retention.
- Oversee requests for student records for legal matters, educational completion, and job search purposes.
- Work with Grants Department and NYSED to identify funding for modernization of paper records and microfilm.
Data
- Ensure the collection of accurate attendance data.
- Disseminate attendance data for goal setting and continuous improvement.
Training
- Provide training to increase student attendance rates to attendance teachers, Central Registration Center staff, school clerical staff, school counselors, School Support Teams, Community Education Leaders, Office of School Leadership administrators, school administrators, Say Yes school staff, and Erie I BOCES personnel.
Liaison
- Serve as liaison with the following District partners to increase student attendance rates: Say Yes, Erie I BOCES staff, Attendance Works staff, City of Buffalo personnel and Mayor’s office, Erie County Family Court personnel, Erie County Department of Social Services staff, Buffalo City Court staff, Read to Succeed Buffalo staff, United Way/Closing the Gap personnel, Community Action Organization, and Buffalo Neighborhood Block Clubs.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
SALARY: Administrator’s salary schedule.
