                                                                              NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and an administrator’s certificate.  Candidates must hold a valid New York State School Administrators Supervisor (SAS), New York State District Administrator (SDA), or New York State School District Leader (SDL) certificate.  Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of approved and appropriate teaching and Supervisory experience, with a minimum of one (1) year in an administrative or supervisory capacity.  Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in Federal and State guidelines as it pertains to Title I, Part A – Parent Involvement.
 
DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Office of Parent and Family Engagement Instructional Specialist III, the Supervisor of Family Engagement will be responsible for but not limited to the following: 

  • Serve as a liaison between school district, parents, and community.
  • Work with professional personnel and parents to help students become successful in school.
  • Cooperatively support building administrators in establishing and implementing effective parent/community/volunteer programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to parents in developing the skills needed to function effectively in a working relationship between home school and community all year.
  • Participate and become involved in Title I and other educational conferences on the local, state and national level.
  • Serve as a parent/volunteer resource person to all professional personnel.
  • Disseminate information to schools, parents, students, volunteers, and community on the local, state, and national level.
  • Coordinate district-wide parental activities throughout the year and prepare calendar for distribution on a monthly basis in advance of activities.
  • Articulate needs of parents and devise parent training programs for parents/staff.
  • Serve as a parent liaison for parent involvement in organizations and public agencies.
  • Assist parents and school staff with implementing local, state, and federal program policies and procedures.
  • Develop and assist parents and school staff in developing parent resource rooms in schools.
  • Prepare an annual report including types of activities and indicating number of parents and volunteers participating in each activity.
  • Attend evening and weekend meetings with functions in fulfilling duties of job description as required.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Disseminate books and other information regarding parent involvement goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with OPFE Instructional Specialist III to plan, organize, schedule, and monitor the operation of the Parent Centers.
  • Identify, contact, and obtain information regarding community service organizations which may be of value to District families via the Parent Centers.
  • Supervise OPFE staff (i.e. Community Education Leaders, Parent Center Staff).
  • Meet with community-based organizations and OPFE staff to discuss the quality of service rendered and to resolve concerns, as needed.
  • Maintain currency of information on effective parent involvement programs via Parent Centers through professional organization membership; reading literature of the field, conferring with counterparts in other school districts; attending meetings and conferences, visiting other effective Parent Centers.
  • Comply with all aspects of the required District parent involvement policy under Section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to parent inquires related to their childs education.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
