NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION: 

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of
 

           TOSA-  ARTS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

       ART EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and New York State certification in Art Education, Visual Arts Education, Theater Education, Music Education or Dance Education.   It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.  Candidates must have completed three years of effective or highly effective teaching in an arts education program. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, computer skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.  Candidates with professional development and/or mentoring/coaching experience is preferred, but not required.  



EXPERIENCE:
In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in the areas of scientifically based research, assessment, and professional development in the area of cultural and linguistically responsive teaching,
instructional technology, curriculum design, arts production/presentation/exhibition, arts integration, mentoring/coaching, and community/partnership outreach. Knowledge of the new New York State Learning Standards for the Arts, NYS Common Core Learning Standards and BPS Visual Arts and/or Music Curriculum, and arts data collection will also be considered in evaluating each candidate’s qualifications.


 

DUTIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and monitoring the implementation of the following Title IV approved arts programs:
    • Musical Theater Productions for grades 7 & 8
    • Dance, Movement & Meditation Integration for grades K-6
    • Mural Mania! and Radio Arts extended learning programs for grades 5-12
    • Artists-in-Residence programs
    • Arts field trips that support dance, theater and visual arts disciplines

 

  • Designing and implementing professional development related to the programs stated above to ensure effective instruction of and supports for all students
  • Providing coaching and modeling in the areas of research based instructional strategies and culturally responsive teaching
  • Collaborating with administrators and staff regarding the implementation of Title IV arts programs
  • Monitoring of strategies, materials, curriculum and instructional program to ensure that they are appropriate and relevant
  • Assisting buildings in the review and analysis of student and building data to assist in determining each schools unique needs, appropriate program modifications and professional development
  • Serve as a representative of the Art Education Department by attending and presenting at district, state and national professional development meetings/conferences as deemed appropriate by Art Education Supervisor, followed by turn-keying information to participating Title IV teachers
  • Plan, conduct and coordinate related arts events
  • Serve as a liaison for buildings to inform and engage them of professional development, arts events and other related potential offerings
  • Work under the Supervision of the Art Education administrator

APPOINTMENT:

 Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews, a modeled lesson and a writing sample shall be scheduled. This appointment will be processed as "temporarily assigned” to the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.
