NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (Alternative Instruction)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), or a School District Leader (SDL) Certification. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of local, state and federal laws and guidance on Student Suspensions, Alternative Instruction Programming, Home Schooling, Home Instruction, Hospital Instruction, Compulsory Attendance, and FERPA Laws. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of combined K-12 teaching and supervisory experience, with a minimum of two (2) years at the Supervisory level. Two years of appropriate experience as a building level administrator preferred. Candidates with experience in school counseling, school psychology, social work, and special education are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates with prior experience in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred.
DUTIES:
The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) New Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Services for our Neediest Children and Families serves as one of the focus areas of the district in executing its commitment to students and parents. Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services, the Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of supplemental student support programs.

Demonstrating appropriate knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies.

Enhancing, developing and evaluating the instructional programs.

Developing short and long term goals and initiatives to increase the district’s services to students enrolled in support programs.

Supervising the development and implementation of successful student transitions among various support programs.

Administering the district’s programs in compliance with all standards and regulations while improving the programs with best practices and national models.

Monitoring, goal setting and evaluating staff.

Allocating resources, supervising personnel and coordinating program implementation.

Demonstrating appropriate fiscal management of funds within the budget.

Providing/coordinating professional development for personnel (school and district).

Facilitating grant applications for various student support programs.
- Performing other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
SALARY: Administrator’s salary schedule.
