POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL), or School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of New York State Laws §3214, 3204, 3202, 3205, 3209, 3210,3215,3216, New York State Uniform Rules for the Family Court (Part 205), Uniform Rules For The City Courts Outside The City Of New York (Part 206), and FERPA. Three years of approved and appropriate experience in a pupil personnel services tenure area preferred. with experience in school counseling, school psychology, social work, and special education are highly encouraged to apply.

 

DUTIES:

The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) New Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Services for our Neediest Children and Families serves as one of the focus areas of the district in executing its commitment to students and parents. Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent of Student Services, the Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

 

  • Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of student support programs designed to address the needs of the district’s neediest children and parents.

  • Identifying funding streams and assisting in the applying (grant writing) for funding.

  • Executing the district’s Attendance Improvement and Suspension Reduction plans.

  • Developing short and long term goals and initiatives associated with each plan.

  • Serving as liaison with the following District partners to increase student success rates: Parent Groups, Say Yes, Erie I BOCES , Attendance Works , City of Buffalo and Mayor’s office, Erie County Family Court , Erie County Department of Social Services , Buffalo City Court , Read to Succeed Buffalo , United Way/Closing the Gap , Community Action Organization, Buffalo Neighborhood Block Clubs, etc..

  • Gathering, validating, analyzing, and disseminating various types of student support data (i.e. attendance and suspension data, YRBS, etc).

  • Serving as a support and consultant to schools in support of addressing student social, emotional, and wellness needs via Student Guidance Conferences.

  • Providing training to student support staff members (i.e. attendance teachers, school counselors, student support teams, community education leaders, etc.), school staff and administrators, parents, students, and community based organizations.

  • When necessary, conducting Superintendent’s long-term suspension hearings
  • Other duties deemed necessary by the Associate Student Support Services for the successful operation of the department.

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
