NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

SUPERVISOR OF MATHEMATICS

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold New York State certification in mathematics, New York State mathematics extension, or have a minimum of 18 credit hours of mathematics content and hold New York State School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL), School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS), or School Building Leader (SBL) certification. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.

 

EXPERIENCE: Candidates must have completed at least three years of approved and appropriate teaching and/or supervision.

 

DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Mathematics, the Supervisor of Mathematics will be responsible for the following, but not be limited to:

  • Oversee mathematics instructional programs supports and initiatives.
  • Disseminate department and program information.
  • Support the development, and evaluation of all mathematics instruction and programs to ensure congruency with the Common Core Learning Standards/Next Generation Learning Standards for Mathematics.
  • Assist with the planning, organization, implementation and facilitation of the District’s professional learning opportunities.
  • Model the personal and professional expectations held for the district mathematics personnel.
  • Support and provide professional development to principals and assistant principals on use of curricular materials and sound instructional practices.
  • Oversee aspects of the Title I Mathematics programs conducted by public and non-public schools.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee implementation of interventions to accelerate the learning of all students, particularly those in need of strategic and intensive intervention.
  • Work cooperatively and collectively with principals, directors, supervisors, teachers on special assignment, and classroom teachers to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools.
  • Use data to improve instruction, and provide professional development to staff on the effective use of data to improve instruction.
  • Oversee creation of formative and interim assessments.
  • Assist with the training of coaches in the areas of instruction, data use, and mathematics content/curriculum.
  • Evaluate staff and teachers, as assigned, in accordance with law, Board policy and contractual requirements.
  • Have courageous conversations with teachers about growth areas in their practice.
  • Assist with the selection and assignment of staff.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as they may be assigned by the Superintendent, his designee, or the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction.
