NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid Special Education New York certificate in grades 9-10 and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured, probationary, temporary, or a certified substitute teacher. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of effective academic results with students with learning disabilities. Candidates must possess a recognized interest in developing authentic and meaningful professional relationships with youth who have been identified as a student with a learning disability. Candidates must have adequate knowledge of the BPS Curriculum. Candidates must be willing to work with the lowest 50% of the student population. Must be able to work at Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm-4:00pm. There will also be professional development opportunities embedded within the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project ADVOCATE Teachers will work under the supervision of the Principal/Assistant Principal. The Principal, as the responsible head and educational leader of the school will assure compliance with state education law and Commissioner’s Regulations.
The assignment includes:
· Minimum 1 hour per day (3:00-4:00) Monday through Thursday after-school from February to June.
· Attend a curriculum design and development workshop, and receive ongoing professional development in differentiated instructional practices, understanding and empowering students with learning disabilities, and connecting students to effective strategies and appropriate resources.
· Design, revise, and implement curriculum that meets each student’s individual needs.
· Use results of Strength Based Assessment to differentiate instruction and provide additional supports that build on student strengths identified.
· Develop and review SMART goals with counselor and student.
