POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 
                                  Special Education Supervisor for Special Education Placement

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent New York State teaching certificate in Special Education and a school administrator certificate (SDA) or New York State School District Leader (SDL).  Candidates must have completed five years of approved and appropriate teaching in Special Education and have prior experience in an administrative or CSE Chairperson role.
 
DUTIES:
The Supervisor of Special Education for Special Education Placement will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

• Communicate with and report to the Director of Special Education
• Supervise the completion of all variance paperwork
• Monitor placement information and provide to students, families and staff
• Design and implement placement procedures for registration of Students with a disability
• Supervise the work of staff to ensure that the process and procedures used in the Department are congruent with the District’s needs, expectations, and policies for placement of students with a disability
• Use a data system to monitor placement information for special education classrooms and determine placement/classroom need
• Monitor work of and communicate with Committee on Special Education Coordinators to ensure correct placement of students
• Monitor IEP Direct input
• Demonstrate and model a polite, friendly customer service orientation
• Communicate District policies and procedures for Special Education placement with district staff, student support teams, and parents
• Complete any additional duties deemed necessary and appropriate.
