POSITION:               
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald A. Ogilvie is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 
 
                               Expanded Learning Time – Afterschool Program at School #94

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid New York State teaching certification in grades K-12 and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a
tenured, probationary or temporary teacher.



 
  • Preference will be given to the following candidates that are currently teaching math or ELA content:
    • Tenured/probationary ELA/Math teachers
  • Positions to be filled:
    • 3 K – 2 teacher positions
    • 3 3 – 5 teacher positions
    • 1 grade 6 teacher position
    • 3 7 – 8 teacher positions
  • Core Knowledge, Journey’s, and/or Step-Up-to-Writing, State Math Module programmatic knowledge is required
  • Candidate should be able to plan differentiated instruction for students needing remediation in ELA and math, specifically foundational phonemic awareness, writing, and foundational math skills.
  • Candidate should be able to implement CCLS and instructional shifts in appropriate subject areas.
  • Candidate should be able to provide meaningful instruction including enrichment activities to improve overall academic achievement for our students.
  • Candidate will create data folders to frequently monitor student progress
  • Candidates should be able to work at least 4 days per week for 2.5 hours per day after school (2:35 – 5:00pm)
Teachers will create lesson plans and utilize the curriculum provided to them, as well as supplement as needed with supervisors’ approval.  Teachers are
expected to provide support & positive interaction with students, administer pre and post assessments, maintain attendance, and as needed, communicate
and provide information to parents on the progress of their child.
 
Final cuts will be based on seniority.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of the Building Administration and the Multilingual Department:

 
  • Planning and implementing meaningful learning experiences to improve academic achievement
  • Analyzing and interpreting relevant data to drive instruction
  • Using relevant resources and supplemental materials/lessons to differentiate instruction for individual students
  • Working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects
  • Utilizing their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in areas such as: arts integration, crafts, music and similar projects
  • Communicating effectively with instructional teams, including the classroom teacher, other professional staff and parents
  • Attending to the physical needs of the students, as appropriate
  • Outside planning time will be necessary.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the building principals who will select the candidates that best match the recruitment bulletin and the
after-school program description.


SALARY:              Per hourly contractual teacher salary schedule.
