The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for a part-time hourly position in the Adult Career Education Program (Day/Evening):

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in ESL, TESOL, ESOL or English from an accredited college or university.
                                        - AND -
Hold the appropriate New York State issued Adult Education certificate (or must obtain; in these cases, applications must be processed through the Human Resources Department of the Buffalo Board of Education for this assignment.) For NYS Adult Education certification, you will be required to take Child Abuse Reporting and SAVE workshops.

EXPERIENCE:
Preference will be given to candidates that have three (3) years of experience working with ESL and foreign-born adults in a workplace or educational setting.

DUTIES:  
Teachers must be able to implement the instructional program, in the appropriate area, following curriculum guidelines provided, NYS Standards/Goals, adhere to NRS Standards, evaluate students and instruction; utilize the database for student attendance and performance notes and prescriptive software systems currently available and maintain accurate records. As required by EPE Guidelines and the NYS Education department, teachers must attend a minimum of 12 staff development hours and participate in the orientation course with Western New York Consortium Professional Staff Development. Teachers may also be assigned other duties as needed.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.  All Adult Education assignments are temporary and can be renewed each year.
