                                                          NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION: 
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald Ogilvie, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 

                                                                  Physics Teacher
                                  International Baccalaureate Program at City Honors School

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Candidates must hold New York State certification in Physics.


DUTIES: 

Responsibilities include:

• City Honors teachers at all grades and in all subjects are part of the International Baccalaureate program.  As such, they are required to attend on and off site training and participate when available in on-going collaborative meetings to ensure integration of IB command terms, rubrics, unit planning and preparation for IB assessments.  Rigor, inquiry, cross-curricular planning and international-mindedness are cornerstones of a successful IB World School.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes objectives of all lessons, units, projects, and so forth in order to communicate these objectives to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, prepares for classes, and maintains written evidence of preparation.
• Assists the administration in implementing Board policies, administrative regulations and school rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports and counseling to parents as required concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
• Participates in parent/teacher conferences as necessary to assist the parents and support children.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Continues personal professional growth and upgrading of skills appropriate to teaching assignments.
• Attends meetings, serves on committees, and accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Subject Area Director.
 

SELECTION
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of training,
experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.  This appointment will be processed
as a probationary appointment.

SALARY:                 Teachers’ salary schedule.
