NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT PLACEMENT & REGISTRATION

 

APPLICATION: Candidates must complete an application form available on the District website, www.buffaloschools.org .

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), or School District Leader (SDL) certificate by the time of appointment. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years combined certificated teaching and supervisory experience, with a minimum of two (2) years at the supervisory level. Candidates must have an understanding of all pertinent state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations related to student attendance and enrollment.

 

 

POSITION:
The Director of Student Placement and Registration is responsible for providing overall coordination and supervision of advising, registration, and placement processes for the Student Placement and Registration Office.

 

 

REPORTING:

The Director of Student Placement & Registration reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specifically, the Director of Student Placement & Registration will be responsible for the following:

  • Manages the Buffalo Public Schools student placement and registration function.
  • Develops and executes a strategic plan for the school placement of all students, which addresses the unique needs of students and families.
  • Creates a welcoming environment in the student placement and registrations office and responds to telephone and email correspondence in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Implements student-centered registration and placement work flow processes to ensure that families receive registration and information and access.  Specifically, implement work flow improvement strategies within acceptable federal regulations to reduce the amount of time from the point of request for services to the delivery of such service.
  • Leads the design and implementation of an automated registration system through the use of existing and new technology strategies with the goal of facilitating a quick and accurate response to enrollment and registration requests and questions.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of district and school programs and offerings.
  • Co-develops and works to enhance the marketing of Buffalo Public Schools, with Director of Guidance and Counseling.
  • Manages issues of student enrollment and placement including, but not limited to enrollment projections, student transfers, school choice, elementary, middle and high school admissions, criterion based school selection and early childhood enrollment.
  • Serves as the primary contact for parents, principals, district and school personnel on enrollment related issues.
  • Works closely with schools and district department to ensure the timely and appropriate placement of students.
  • Provides consistent reception, give accurate and up-to-date information, and respond to other communication demands regarding questions about registration, and placement during critical enrollment periods including the analysis of demographic data in relation to school growth and district operations.
  • Supervises Central Registration and Cultural Resource assigned staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SELECTION: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
