POSITION:

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the building Principal, the Program Coordinator will coordinate and implement instructional, organizational, and School Improvement Grant plans.  The Program Coordinator will also implement, coordinate and communicate with the principal and the Office of School Leadership staff to ensure compliance with district, federal and state mandates.  The Program Coordinator also supports the initiatives, programs and activities of the SIG working collaboratively with the principal and content staff and district office to ensure alignment of initiatives and positive effect on teaching and learning. 


QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and NYS certification.  Candidates must have completed three years of approved and appropriate teaching and/or coaching experience within a Montessori school setting. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.  The candidate must possess a working knowledge of Montessori didactic materials used in the Montessori classroom from the age of 3 through the age of 12.  Proficiency in the use of technology and knowledge of the New York State Common Core Learning Standards will also be considered in evaluating each candidate's qualifications.  Candidates must have knowledge of best instructional practices and quality assessment practices. 
 
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Building principal, the responsibilities of the Program Coordinator will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Support and work collaboratively to develop a Comprehensive Education Plan aligned with the SIG and the District's vision and goals to turnaround a TSI school;
  • Communicate school-wide programs and anticipated actions with the support of data; 
  • Work to develop and maintain clear line of communication and collaboration between staff, administrators, students and parents for the purpose of increasing student outcomes;
  • Work with the leadership team to establish priority area for instructional focus
  • Guide school wide data team that sets the tone for ongoing data use to:
  • Define critical teaching and learning concepts within the Montessori method and aligned to the New York State Common Core Learning Standards;
  • Develop a written plan that articulates activities, roles, and responsibilities;
  • Provide on-going data leadership
  • Provide supports that foster a data-driven culture within the school;
  • Acts as a school-based facilitator who meets with teacher teams to discuss data through the DDI process;
  • Arrange for targeted professional development based on analyses of data, differentiated according to student needs and subject areas targeted for instructional improvement. 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
