POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for teaching position of:

                          RIVERSIDE ACADEMY (PHASE IN) #208

 

Riverside Academy High School defines success in terms of service to the community. Riverside Academy High School will offer programs in the ‘Blue Economy’ of careers related to waterways and opportunities surrounding waterways. These programs will prepare students to enter post-secondary majors and careers in the fields of waterway management, travel and tourism and wellness and recreation. Inquiry and project based learning will be a strong element of learning and instructional design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area for which they are applying to teach. In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to overall teaching experience, in particular success implementing project-based learning strategies throughout the year, as well as cultural competence. Preference will be given to those who are able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to consistently incorporate the aforementioned into their lessons and overall strategies for success.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

The candidate must have a demonstrated record of experience in delivering instruction that is rigorous, standards driven, and that supports student directed inquiry and project–based learning. The candidate must possess the skill set to develop strong collegial and collaborative relationships and participate in cross–curricular common planning. In addition, the candidate must possess the knowledge and experience to develop targeted instruction to support students with various types of learning disabilities and at various stages of learning disabilities.

 

 

DUTIES:

Under the direction of the school principal, teachers will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities based on prior student performance data, learning standards and cross curricular collaboration.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities, with an emphasis on project and inquiry learning.

  • Research, identify, and provide a variety of learning materials and resources that are appropriate for high school students and support the ‘Blue Economy’ theme.

  • Use appropriate and relevant technology tools to engage students support instruction.

  • Observe, monitor, and evaluate student performance and development to provide appropriate verbal and written feedback and to design future instruction.

  • Assign and grade classwork, projects, portfolios, and other assignments as appropriate.

  • Manage and maintain a positive classroom and school environment through Restorative Justice Practices.

  • Participate in common planning.

  • Complete, maintain, and update student records as necessary.

  • Maintain an open line of communication with parents and families.

    Participate in school, department, and district meetings and professional development activities as required.

  • Utilize multiple pedagogical techniques for addressing the needs of varied learners.

 

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following

assessment of training, experience, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be

scheduled where appropriate.
