POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and hold a licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW). A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience, with at least one (1) year experience working with multilingual learners is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities. Bilingual candidates preferred.
 
DUTIES:
The responsibilities of the Social Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide professional development for teachers, support staff, administration and parents.
  • Collect data as to the effectiveness of programs implemented and maintain daily documentation of services provided.
  • Provide and facilitate on-going services for multilingual students and their families in order to empower and engage them in the educational process.
  • Promote and provide educational opportunities in the area of social skills development, while acting as a key member of schools’ interdisciplinary teams consisting of instructional personnel, psychologists, counselors, and other team members as deemed necessary.
  • Encourage multilingual parent participation in the educational process and provide services to building social workers to support this endeavor, which may include setting up team meetings at school and/or providing home visitations to assess family needs and suggest appropriate referral sources.
  • Work collaboratively with the CSE teams at the building level, bilingual evaluation team staff and special education administrators to ensure that our multilingual families are aware of, educated on and designated as an acting partner in the CSE process if deemed necessary for their child.
  • Work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and/or counseling services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a consultant to teachers and building level social workers.
  • Assist with any duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by Supervisor of ELL Services.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
