NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:  The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:


SUPERVISOR OF MULTILINGUAL STUDENT PLACEMENT

QUALIFICATIONS:


Candidates must have a Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), or School District Leader (SDL), or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS), or a School Building Leader (SBL) certificate by the time of appointment. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.Candidates must have a minimum of three years certificated teaching and/or supervisory experience and have excellent oral and written English communication skills. Candidates with the ability to speak, read, and write one of the District’s top six languages other than English and prior administrative experience in TESOL/Bilingual Education in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred.

POSITION:
The Supervisor of Multilingual Student Placement is responsible for providing overall coordination and supervision of assessment, placement, and registration processes for English Language Learners and possible English Language Learners.

REPORTING:
The Supervisor of Multilingual Student Placement reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Multilingual Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, the Supervisor of Multilingual Student Placement will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervise the Language Assessment Center staff.
  • Manage issues of ELL enrollment including, but not limited to, enrollment projections, student transfers, and elementary, middle, and high school admissions.
  • Assist with resolving ELL placement and registration issues and answer questions related to official student placement and enrollment.
  • Serve as the primary contact for parents, principals, District, and school personnel on ELL enrollment related issues.
  • Oversee the summer ELL placement and registration satellite.
  • Oversee the implementation of Commissioner’s Regulations Part 151 and 154 requirements related to student assessment, registration, placement, and parent communication.
  • Develop and work to enhance the multilingual marketing of the Central Registration Center including, but not limited to, the clear articulation of District programs and offerings.
  • Work closely with departments of instruction, school leadership, and finance to support the District Comprehensive Improvement Plan.
  • Assist in the development of a strategic plan for Central Registration Center that addresses the needs of entering multilingual students and families.
  • Ensure that employees create a welcoming environment at Central Registration Center and respond to telephone and email correspondence in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Work closely with the Director of Student Placement and Registration to ensure timely communication and alignment with goals and expectations of the department.
  • Supervise the Cultural Resource Specialists.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Director and Supervisors of Central Registration Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SELECTION:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
