NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

PROGRAM COORDINATOR – PRE-NATAL – PRE-K

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and NYS certification in Early Childhood Education or Early Literacy.  Candidates must have completed three years of approved and appropriate teaching and/or coaching experience.  The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.

Proficiency in the use of technology and knowledge of the New York State core curriculum will also be considered in evaluating each candidate’s qualifications. Candidates must have knowledge of best instructional and quality assessment practices.

DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Elementary Education, the responsibilities of the Program Coordinator will include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Assist in developing courses and resources to impact the Pre-Natal to Pre-Kindergarten readiness
  • Develops and facilitates parent courses, book studies and informational sessions across the city to help parents / guardians prepare their children to be academically and socially prepared for Pre-Kindergarten.
  • Opportunities to provide trainings and attend meetings will be available after-school and on Saturdays in Community Schools.
  • Develops a proactive model of school/community relationship with school partners.
  • Develop and provide trainings, information and resources to day-cares/agencies/service providers to assist them in preparing students to be academically and socially prepared for Pre-Kindergarten.
  • Communicate with parents and the community in public forums, community meetings, etc.
  • Fosters relationships and performs site-visits with un-licensed daycare providers.
  • Match instructional support materials to the needs of students.
  • Be able to articulate and demonstrate familiarity of District goals and initiatives.
  • Be able to articulate and support the goals as defined in the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
  • Maintains inventory of My Brother’s Keeper program materials and orders approved materials for school use.
  • Performs such other duties and assumes other responsibilities to implement the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.

SALARY: Teacher’s salary schedule.

FUNDING: Pending Funding.
