NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:  The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:   Candidates must have earned a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and have a New York State teaching certificate in DANCE/Theater. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.

  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in a performing arts and/or education setting
  • Passion for working with young children in an extra-curricular setting
  • Proven track record of theatre, dance, or vocal music teaching experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong management skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects successfully
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated experience directing dramas and musical theatre

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Building Principal, candidate will be responsible for:

  • Teaching dance classes to elementary students that are assigned on a daily basis. (Note: students will likely have had NO prior formal training)
  • Introduce to locomotor and non-locomotor movement/skills based on a focus of natural movement
  • Lessons in creative movement exercises that relate to the basic elements of dance
  • Provide avenues of creative exploration and age appropriate lessons in a safe environment
  • Exploration of body awareness and spatial awareness
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse student population as well as parent communication skills
  • Ability to present culturally diverse and applicable lessons to the student body
  • Create a structured dance vocabulary for all grades based on developed lesson plans
  • Strong communication and discipline skills to produce effective classroom outcomes
  • Produce an annual dance performance production
  • Assist in the planning of the school plays and musicals.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (art, music, theater)
  • Attendance at all faculty meetings, pre- and post-planning events, and any other meeting as mandated by the administration.
  • The scheduling, planning, and facilitation of production meetings.
  • Developing production budgets and ordering of supplies.
  • Design or supervise the design of all scenery and lighting for dance productions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
