POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for
the position of:
Summer Enrichment Arts Teacher for the following programs:
1. Mural Mania! 2. Leadership Through the Arts
8:30 am – 12:00 pm 11:30 am – 3:00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State certification in Art Education, Music Education, Dance Education or Theater Education and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured teacher.
DUTIES:
1. Mural Mania! Arts Teacher(s) will work directly with the Art Education Supervisor, Buffalo Arts Studio Director of Education, and mural artist, supporting the concept of the mural developed by the mural artist and student-muralists (grades 7-12). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: management of schedules, maintenance of all related records, preparation of materials, support muralist and students in development of concept, maintain positive relationships between all parties, overall safety of students, and outreach to parents to the fullest extent possible.
2. Leadership Through the Arts Arts Teacher(s) will work directly with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Just Buffalo Literary Center and Ujima Theater, with support from the Art Education Supervisor, and will report to Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services. Students in grades 9-12 will be enrolled in the Mayor’s Summer Internship Program and will work alongside artists to develop social and job-related skills through visual arts, spoken word/creative writing and theater that are transferrable in college and career. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: management of schedules, maintenance of all related records, preparation of materials if required, maintain positive relationships between all parties, overall safety of students, and outreach to parents to the fullest extent possible.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. Up to five (5) arts teachers will be selected.
SALARY: As per the current BTF contract.
