POSITION:               
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald A. Ogilvie, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates
for Grades 7 & 8 summer school guidance positions:
                                               
GUIDANCE – GRADES 7 & 8 – AFTERNOONS
 
TBA (Locations subject to change based upon site availability.)
                                               
Staff hours:                   11:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.                      
Student hours:              11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.                       
                                               
Classes to be held:       July 13 – August 7, 2015

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area for which they are applying to teach. Priority
in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School
teachers in order of summer school seniority.
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Position requires the planning, organization, and implementation of the appropriate instructional program to address the learning needs of
the students; to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assist with student registration/ do late registration for all students assigned to hub school.
  • Request information needed from feeder school.
  • Look up student data in Infinite Campus.
  • Provide copies of student IEP if necessary
  • Make sure that all schools assigned to hub receive the average / exam.
  • Provide pro-social and individual counseling as needed.
  • Ensure that summer school grades are input.
  • Consult with teachers and staff regularly.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Work with parents and guardians that call and visit schools regarding interpreting exam scores and passing.
  • Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
  • Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by through interventions
  • Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.

ORIENTATION:
Paid teacher preparation session is scheduled for July 10, 2015 (3 hour session). Successful candidates are encouraged to attend.

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent,
following assessment of summer school seniority, training, credentials, and evaluation of service.  Interviews shall be
scheduled where appropriate.
 
SALARY:                    Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract.
