                                                  NOTICE OF POSITION                                                          

 
POSITION:               
Buffalo Promise Neighborhood in conjunction with Buffalo Public Schools, is interested in receiving applications
from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and New York State certification in ELA.
 
 
EXPERIENCE:         
Candidates must have three years of teaching and/or coaching experience in urban school district.  Candidates must participate in Professional
Learning Opportunities.  The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate
leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.  Proficiency in the use of technology and knowledge of the Common Core
Standards and assessments are also preferred.
 
 
DUTIES:                   
The ELA Instructional Coach will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Guiding and assisting teachers in the full and ongoing implementation of all ELA initiatives and implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS).
  • Guiding and assisting in the full and ongoing implementation of the Talent Development Reading, English Language Arts Instructional Programs with support of the Buffalo City Schools administration and building principal.
  • Collaborating with teachers and building principals regarding the implementation of research based instructional strategies that are direct, explicit, and systematic to support with a focus on in-classroom support and development.
  • Reviewing and analyzing student data and outcome assessment data to diagnose obstacles and assist teachers in determining appropriate interventions and necessary program modifications via modeling, training and professional development to support successful school transformation.
  • Providing PLO for teachers at curricular common planning time meetings, after school, and on Saturdays to support successful school transformation.
  • Assist in development and supporting teachers in implementing action plans based on data to support successful school transformation.
  • Attend District and Talent Development Secondary Program PLO for instructional coaches, Reading and English Language Arts
  • Must be able to travel to Baltimore several times a year to participate in Talent Development Secondary Program professional development
  • Must be skilled at working with adult and student learners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop lesson plans.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
  • Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
  • Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures and enforcing classroom, school, and district rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, and district meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Stay current with most recent developments in appropriate subject area as initiated by the school or district.
  • Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator

APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood following
assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews, a modeled lesson and a writing
