NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash., is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:


ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and a valid New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or New York State School District Leader (SDL) certificate by the time of appointment. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. It is required that Candidates must have three years of approved administrative experience. Experience in working with: external providers, multiple schools and systems, deadlines, and autonomously will be considered in evaluating each candidate’s qualifications. Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills are also required for this position.

DUTIES: The Assistant Superintendent of Shared Accountability will report to the Chief Accountability/ Information Officer and be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Proactive support of District functions with performance data and metrics to improve educational effectiveness including but not exclusive to:
    • Protection of student data/ information
    • Program and curriculum assessments
    • Student performance analysis for teachers
    • Teacher/class effectiveness reporting where appropriate
    • Demographic assessment
    • Operating statistics
  • Collaboration with BOCES and NYSED authorities to insure District compliance and effectiveness.
  • Provision of research and analysis as required.
  • Management of quality testing program and investigates reported breaches of standard protocols.
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking in the use of data, have the ability to partner with a wide constituency, and have hands-on experience with:
    • Evaluation and selection of technologies for data storage, manipulation, analysis,
    • Preparation of RFPs, and
    • Creation of effective presentations which are: simple and direct and focused on recommended outcomes.
  • Knowledge of state reporting process, systems, and policies, particularly as it relates to the NYSED portal and reporting processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of Infinite Campus and back-front end processes that are necessary to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Significant statistical data analysis experience minimally, advanced with excel and SPSS.
  • Knowledge of the NYSED SIRS and how to report/ verify data as well as how to coordinate/ validate the reporting at the District/ school level (L0/WNYRC Data Warehouse/ L2RPT, for example).
  • Provides overall leadership and supervision of the District’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) system for teachers and administrators according to State rules/ regulations.
  • Provides overall leadership and supervision of the NYSED School, District and BPS charter school process.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of all state and district assessments.
  • Assist in the development of accountability reports for school, District, state and federal levels and present reports to schools, District and state individuals.
  • Serve as a back up to the Chief Accountability/Information Officer as an alternate liaison to the New York State Department of Education regarding Buffalo Public Schools accountability matters.
  • Assist in the state submission and analysis of data collected through assessment and research programs, ensuring the district meets all of its federal, state and local accountability requirements; enforce a commitment to the highest integrity for all data collected and reported.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the progress of school performance, student achievement objectives and academic excellence indicators to assure alignment of improvement strategies; direct implementation of revised or new strategies and key standards, assessments are aligned with the district’s curriculum and instructional strategies and to ensure the appropriate resources and support needed for data-driven instruction by teachers, principals and other staff.
  • Participate in the planning, management, oversight, and monitoring of school and district accountability status as related to State and Federal monitoring and compliance requirements.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of School Improvement Grants, District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP) and School Comprehensive Education Plans (SCEP).
  • Assist priority school partners to efficiently navigate the district’s policies and procedures and access resources to gain flexibility in implementing the contents of the partners’ contract and the performance expectations framework.
  • Assist schools with district, state, and federal grant writing, reporting requirements and report progress to the district leadership and BOE.
  • Attend scheduled Division Head meetings.
  • Attend scheduled BOE meetings when necessary.
  • Create, implement and provide technical assistance on the District’s data dashboard
  • Assist in interpreting and administering school policy, regulations and negotiated contracts and manage scheduling and contracts for out of district consultants.
  • Support District educational program initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff and administration and other stakeholders as necessary, including in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Participates in professional development activities to keep abreast of law, regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform related duties as required.

 

APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
