NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
PRE-KINDERGARTEN SOCIAL WORKER

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and hold a licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW). A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience, with at least one (1) year experience working with an alternative education or community/school collaboration is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.
DUTIES:
The responsibilities of the Pre K Social Worker include, but are not limited to:
- Establish an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image.
- Process and facilitate on-going services for students with disabilities and their families.
- Provide social skills development, and educational opportunities and acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, psychologists, counselors, and other team members as required.
- Schedule and conduct home visitation conferences, obtain consents for students referred to the CPSE and gather comprehensive social histories for students.
- Administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures, secure outside data needed to prepare for CPSE/CSE meetings and perform classroom observations when needed.
- Work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling, offer strategies and support to parents.
- Serve as a consultant to teachers, implement PBS and perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate
- Calling, emailing &/or writing to parents teachers &/or principals to set up meetings.
- Documenting action taken on referrals.
- Consulting with teachers/staff to review problems/concerns and collaborate a possible course of action.
- Consulting with parents to discuss problems/concerns & discuss & implement potential solutions.
- Observing/interviewing students to gather pertinent information relating to referral sent by teacher.
- Contacting agencies/service providers to coordinate services for children & families.
- Preferred knowledge/training of Pyramid Model supports.
APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher’s salary schedule.
