The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and NYS certification in the area(s) of Early Childhood Education (B-2), Childhood Education (1-6), Reading, Literacy or Special Education. Candidates must have knowledge of the Raising a Reader Program.
 

JOB SUMMARY:

Position requires the planning, organization, and implementation of the Raising a Reader literacy program to support and address the literacy learning needs of the student and families who attend Saturday Academy programming; to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential in both curricular and extracurricular activities.
 

DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Building administrator for Saturday Academy Programming in conjunction with the Supervisor of Elementary of Education, the responsibilities of the Raising a Reader Program Implementer will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences to students and families.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare Saturday Academy site for activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities with students and families.
  • Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students and families at varying levels of progress.
  • Instruct and monitor students and families in the use of learning and programming materials.
  • Monitor and encourage individual family progress.
  • Provide guidance to students and families which will promote educational development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for programming implementation as needed.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
  • Prepare required reports on students, families and activities.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
 

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
