POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

SUMMER SPORTS CAMP COACH
VOLLEYBALL  CAMP



JOB SUMMARY
Facilitate sports specific skills and drills designed to teach fundamentals of the sport and to improve the knowledge, competency, and skills of all participants. Candidates are also required to take daily attendance and track and report student data. Monday-Thursday, 4-day summer program running 3.5 hours per day from July 29th – August 2nd 2024 from 8:45am to 12:15pm.

CERTIFICATIONS:
In accordance with the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Section 135.4:

Potential candidates must meet the FIRST AIDE/CPR/AED requirement prior to applying to coach.

A person who holds a valid certificate to teach physical education may coach any sport in any school, but first must meet the first aid/CPR requirement prior to coaching.

Other Certified Teachers and Non-Teacher Coaches must complete one of the two pathways within the specified time frame:

  1. New York State Coaching Certification program offered by Erie 1 BOCES or
  2. NFHS NYS Specific Second Pathway Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

One-year Volleyball experience preferred, preferably working with adolescence and young adults. Experience working with varied fitness levels and ages preferred. Coaching experience preferred. Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

 
Candidates must be employed by the Board of Education in accordance with Article XII-G of the Master Contract between the Buffalo Board of Education and the Buffalo Teacher’s Federation.

SUPERVISOR:
Athletics Director and Building Principal or Principal Designee

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1.  Adhere to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics.
  2.  Track and record student attendance and all necessary data.
  3. . Models professional practices at all times.
  4.  Assume responsibility for the philosophy and teachings of the basketball camp.
  5.  Create daily standard operating procedures.
  6.  Ensures proper maintenance, repair, and cleaning of equipment.
  7. Attend meetings called by the Athletic Director or Building Principal.
  8. .I and Section VNYSPHSAAAdhere to all BPS policies and procedures outlined in the NYS Commissioners regulations,

OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the, Athletic Director & Principal or other appropriate administrator
