NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee members for the following committee to serve as needed from:
September 2022- June 2025

ARTS CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MEMBER

THIS POSTING WILL REPLACE ALL OTHER ARTS CURRICULUM COMMITTEE POSTINGS
AND CURRENT PRE K CURRICULUM COMMITTEES.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a New York State certification, teaching in the subject area applied for and currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools. The applicant must have knowledge of the New York State Standards for the Arts and Culturally and Linguistically Responsive pedagogical practices. Advanced Placement arts teachers are highly encouraged to apply.The Department of Arts is also seeking candidates who specialize in CLRI, multilingualeducation, special education, and instructional technology to sit on this committee. Candidates with experience in the arts will be prioritized.

DUTIES:

  • Curriculum committees will work directly with subject area and/or curriculum administrators.
  • Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a mandated time frame.Assignments include but are not limited to evaluating instructional materials and developing pertinent curriculum documents aligned to the Common Core, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive pedagogical practices, and the NYS Arts Standards.
  • Committee members will participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills that are required to fulfill responsibilities of related committee work.


APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.


SALARY:         Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
