Notice of Position

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of :

Supervisor for Culturally and Linguistically
Responsive Initiatives (CLRI)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator certificate (SDA), New York State School District Leader certificate (SDL), New York State School Supervisor certificate (SAS), or a New York State School Building Leader certificate (SBL) by the time of appointment.  It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certification(s).  Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years K-12 certificated teaching. Candidates with teaching experience in an urban school district, or in a district with an urban population are preferred. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching Practices in an urban school district.

Duties:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Initiatives, the Supervisor of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Initiatives will:
  • Ensure curriculum infusion of diverse literature and other diverse instructional resources into the core curriculum
  •  Work in collaboration with the Office of Staff Development to develop and facilitate District wide training related to the implementation of the CLRI Strategic Plan; Including Disproportionality, Departmental training, teacher training, parent and community training, book studies, and culturally and linguistically responsive project based learning opportunities;
  • Maintain and keep current the CLRI District web-site and compendium of resources
  • Provide onsite and virtual support for the implementation of the Big Sister /Little Sister Dialogues Program, MBK Fellows Program, Scholars for Social Justice and Global Scholars program 
  • Oversee the development of the MBK Male Academy High School
  • Supervise the procurement of standards aligned CLRT instructional resources that can be infused into the standing core curriculum, including classroom libraries, media resources, and technological platforms that support CLRT curriculum infusion
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of CLRI building-based professional development programs to ensure that CLRI School teams and teachers will receive necessary supports for their own professional growth and continuous improvement
  • Supervise the work of each school’s CLRI committee, and all aspects of the school-based CLRI action plan;
  • Assist administrators and teachers in the implementation of CLRT best practices in Schools;
  • Provide onsite or virtual support and assist teachers with identifying supplemental materials and pedagogical practices of culturally and linguistically responsive teaching;
  • Work with CLRI Director (s), and CLRI curriculum committees in all aspects and duties of the office of CLRI;
  • Participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills required to fulfill responsibilities of related work;
  • Carry out the responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent, his designee, or the Associate Superintendent for CLRI and other duties as assigned

 

 

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
