NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
EXTENDED LEARNING TIME 
GRADES K- 12 TEACHERS

This application is for teachers to work the after school program outside of their assigned school
Location, dates and times: Determined upon needs and qualifications and school day assignment
*Candidates should apply internally at their assigned school first
*Teachers are only eligible for openings that do not interfere with school day assignment

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid NYS teaching certification in: General Education, ENL, Special Education or content area and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured, probationary or temporary teacher. Teachers will create lesson plans and utilize the curriculum and district resources to provide academic and enrichment opportunities for students.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of the Building Administration to provide an effective after school program. Building administrators design afterschool programs to meet the needs of students and the school.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide instruction to students in Grades K – 12 per the school's after school program design
  • Teacher assignments are based upon qualifications, certifications, and training
  • Instructing students on grade-level coursework using differentiated strategies and approaches, and working with students in need of academic support
  • Homework support
  • Qualified teachers can be assigned to teach/support programs and enrichment courses as needed, such as:
    • Connexus online coursework
    • CLRI programs such as My Brothers Keeper and My Sisters Keeper
    • Specialty enrichment program
  • Other responsibilities as determined necessary by the building administration
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the building principals who will select the candidates that best match the recruitment bulletin and the after-school program description.
