The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for Teaching Assistant for the 2024 -2025 School year. The Adult Education Division currently serves over 2500 students aged 16 and up annually throughout the City of Buffalo.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must hold NYS Teaching Assistant Level I, II, or III certification. Candidate should have experience working with youth, with preference given to candidates with experience working in challenging situations with students that have dropped out of school. Candidates should have experience working with a diverse population from a variety of backgrounds.
DUTIES:
The role of Teaching Assistant assigned to the Adult Education Division is to provide direct instructional services to the students under the supervision of the Supervisor and the direction of the Site Coordinator and certified teachers who are responsible for the students’ instruction.
These duties include, but are not limited to:

Appointments are subject to the review of the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: $21.32 /HR $32,070 Annual Salary

These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the classroom teacher by performing instructional and non-instructional duties to support students
- Assist with supervision of students in a various settings, including the classroom, cafeteria, hallway, etc.
- Serve as a role model for students by representing pro-social behaviors and emotional competence in the school setting
- Assist students with career planning, workforce, and job skill preparation
- Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects
- Provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences
- Administer assessments to students as needed
- Communicate effectively with the instructional team, including the classroom teacher, case manager, and site coordinator
- Attend to the physical needs of students, as appropriate
