POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:          

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and be a current BPS substitute teacher.  Priority in the selection of substitute teachers will be given to qualified BPS Substitutes with a valid New York State Education Department certification.
 

DUTIES:
The 1003B Grant- Substitute Teacher will provide the following educational assistance: 
  • Providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
  • Implement teacher lesson plans, assign student class work and homework, maintain classroom control and discipline.
  • Complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events.
  • Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is very important.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the building Administrator or his/her Administrative designee.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
For the benefit of the students and continuity of the 1003B Grant, substitute teachers chosen for this position are expected to work full days and to work daily at the specific school assigned and be committed to work for the remainder of the school year after being hired.  Please note: Substitutes must apply to this position on a yearly basis, it is not a continuous position from the previous year.
                                                                                   
SALARY:                       Substitute daily rate based on SUBSTITUTE UNION contract.
