POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja Williams, is interested in receiving applications for qualified candidates for the position of:
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
SUMMER 2024

Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Summer School are eligible to work for only one of the programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates MUST be a current substitute teacher with Buffalo Public Schools.

7/8 Program:
- Instruction: July 15th – August 9th
- Scoring/clean up: August 12th
9-12 Program:
- Instruction: July 15th – August 16th
- Regents Exams: August 19th & 20th
ESY:
- July 9 - August 11th
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Summer School Program substitute teachers will provide the following educational assistance:- Providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- May implement teacher lesson plans, assign student class work and homework, maintain classroom control and discipline.
- May be required to complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events.
- Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is very important.
- Other duties assigned by the building Administrator or his/her Administrative designee.

Please review the dates carefully. FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS AND CONTINUITY OF THE PROGRAM, TEACHERS ARE EXPECTED TO SERVE THE FULL TERM OF THE PROGRAM.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Substitute daily rate based on SUBSTITUTE UNION contract.
