NOTICE OF POSITION       

POSITION:

The Superintendent, Dr.Tonja M.Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
                          

 SUMMER ENRICHMENT 2023
ARTS CAMP TEACHER FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS

Mural Mania: Mural Arts Program
Woke Words: Spoken Word & Lyrical Poetry Writing Program
Song & Stage: Community Musical Theater Program

Dates: July 10 - August 11, 2023
Time: 8:45 am – 12:15 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a New York State certification in Art Education, Music Education, Dance Education or Theater Education and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools. 

DUTIES:
 

ARTS CAMP DIRECTOR: Arts Teacher (1) will work directly with the Director of Arts to ensure that all logistical and safety matters are properly attended to. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of program schedule; maintenance of all related records including attendance; organize field trips and navigate bus routes; inform families of field trips and other arts camp events via email and written form (fliers); collect permission slips and maintain safety travel binder with all contact information; ensure breakfasts and lunches are distributed; organize the final community event with the arts enrichment staff; maintain positive relationships between all parties; ensure the overall emotional and physical safety of students; family outreach to the fullest extent possible whenever necessary; communicate successes and challenges with Director of Arts.


MURAL MANIA: Arts Teachers (1) will work directly with the Director of Arts and contracted mural artist, to support collaborative work between student-muralists (grades 6-12) in the development of the final mural installation (site to be determined) . Responsibilities include but are not limited to: implementation of program schedule; preparation of materials and resources; support muralist and students in development of concept; maintain positive relationships between all parties; and ensure the overall emotional and physical safety of students.

 

STAGE & SONG: Arts Teachers (2) will work directly with the Director of Arts and contracted musical theater artist, to support collaborative work between student-actors/singers (grades 6-12) in the development of a free community musical theater outdoor performance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: implementation of program schedule, preparation of materials and resources; support musical theater artist and students in skill development of choreography; acting and singing; maintain positive relationships between all parties; and ensure the overall emotional and physical safety of students.
 

WOKE WORDS: Arts Teacher (1) will work directly with the Director of Arts and contracted writing artist/poet, to support collaborative and independent work between student-poets (grades 6-12) in the development of a culminating spoken word event. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: implementation of program schedule; preparation of materials and resources; support writing artist and students in development of concept; maintain positive relationships between all parties; and ensure the overall emotional and physical safety of students.


APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. Up to five (5) arts teachers will be selected, one (1) for director, one (1) for Woke Words, one (1) for Mural Mania, and two (2) for Stage & Song.

SALARY:  Hourly rate 3.5 hours
