POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION SPECIALIST - HOURLY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification: Social Work, Psychologist or other related mental health field. ABA Therapy certification or Board Certified Behavior Analyst given preference. Strong working knowledge of behavioral theory and applied behavior analysis. It is required to have experience as a Behavior Intervention Specialist. Understand the characteristics and behaviors associated with disorders. Ability to apply behavioral principals and to handle intense emotional situations. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Knowledge and experience with implementing MTSS/PBIS model and systems. Experience with deescalation techniques, trauma informed care, and restorative justice/circles. Must have the ability to perform the physical duties associated with this position.

 

DUTIES:

The Behavioral Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as the Behavioral Specialist for all district schools
  • Recommend appropriate behavioral interventions
  • Provide job embedded coaching and modeling for teachers/staff on implementing behavioral supports
  • Collect, analyze and progress monitor behavioral data
  • Develop a system of tracking outcomes to illustrate the impact of interventions
  • Interface with district staff and parents to address behavior
  • Develop and/or revise Behavior Support Plans
  •  Assist with the development of a Behavioral Intervention Plan
  • Provide professional development on behavioral interventions and support
  • Conduct assessments as needed to inform behavior support plans or services
  • Respond to students requiring deescalation
  • interact with students in therapeutic, respectful and trauma sensitive ways
  • Support IEP development
  • Support district PBIS initiative
  • Communicate with parents, families and caregivers
  • Complete all related paperwork
  • All other duties as necessary and appropriate
